Clyde Butcher’s world is one of swamps, rivers, saw grass prairies, summer storms and black & white photography. As we had to be in Florida this week, we decided to visit his kingdom for a Sunday photo shoot in the swamps by his gallery. Fascinating places the swamps of Big Cypress, The Everglades and the Fakahatchee Strand. So difficult to photograph. Take a look at all the stuff behind the photographers. So much stuff. Our eye selectively focuses and it’s lovely in there. The camera gathers it all up so our photographs tend to be a busy mess. We need to learn how to select and simplify. Part of the challenge is finding more open territory hopefully something other than a roadside ditch albeit one deep in the Fakahatchee Strand. We will be back.
