Drive an hour. Wait for the Wildlife Management Area gate down on Edisto Island to open. Go out to the bone yard. And then hope the for some clouds, just some clouds. We know we have low tide so we should get color sheen in reflections. We have waited all summer for the sun to come around to the east positioned for better composition. We have learned that clouds often hang low on the eastern horizon at dawn and then soon burn off. But what will we get today?

Ah, the cloud machine has done its act. So we get sunrise color and have evolving light conditions when the clouds burn off as scheduled and as we wander down the beach to more dead trees. ¬†Want to dial up the light? Go ahead. Soon it’s very bright but not yet harsh. Super. Let’s shoot tree shapes and shadows aiming directly into the sun. So many opportunities. A good morning.
