It’s a dark and rainy day. We are hunkered down at a marina in North Carolina waiting out a passing Nor’easter. So are the gulls. We all need something to amuse ourselves (besides our ever present chores) while we keep out of the storm and out of trouble. The gulls insist of bumping each other from their chosen spots. If it’s a piling, a gull will fly in usually driving off the incumbent. In this case the attempt failed. If a gull has a selected spot on the dock, it won’t be long before another gull decides that is the place to be and barges in.

We amuse ourselves by using the boat as a blind. We open a window, slide back the screen and fire away. Ah, the simple pleasures in life.
